WIP Wednesday.

Since I don't have anything finished to show you, let me tell you what I'm working on at the moment. I felt really restless during the last weeks of my pregnancy and it made me cast on for multiple projects, none of which I had the ability to concentrate on for very long or the time to finish. So now I'm trying desperately to find time to knit and finish everything I have on my needles so I get to work on new projects (I have so much inspiration but too little time to knit!)

Another reason why I haven't really finished anything of late is that I seem to have run out of yarn for almost every project I'm working on. I placed an order for more yarn last weekend and now I'm just anxiously waiting for my packet to arrive. I have to rely on online shopping because I haven't been able to go to a yarn store because of the baby: there are some steps to get to the store and I can't manage them with the stroller, and I don't feel comfortable leaving them outside even for a short while.

This is my second time knitting the Dessine-Moi Un Mouton sweater by La Maison Rililie. This time I'm using only 3 colors.

Another sweater project I'm working on is the Relax by Ririko. I really love the loose fit, but it seems to take forever to knit! I'm knitting it with two strands of lace weight yarn (black and white) held together to get a marled effect.

This is how far I've come with Magnus's birthday pullover (Jackdaw by Norah Gaughan). The back is almost ready (but I'm out of yarn). It knits up surprisingly fast even though the pattern isn't the most intuitive to work with...

And lastly, I've been knitting a triangle scarf with silk yarn, even though I don't have that much to show of it yet. This is my car knitting project (sweaters are too big to carry in my handbag!). I'm determined to become more of a scarf-person because there are so many beautiful patterns and yarns that I'd like to knit with. Oh, the pattern is Florin Triangle by Leila Raabe if you want to see how the scarf is supposed to look like - because you can't quite see it yet in the above photo....

P.S. Thank you for your condolences regarding our cat Milla. I've been crying a lot but it is slowly starting to get easier, especially since we have heard that she is doing fine in her new home at the senior home. Even though she is still a bit scared of the new people and surroundings, she seems to be less stressed there than she was here at home: she has only peed in her litter box and not even once around the house. So I'm hoping we made the right call...

  1. Your WIPs all look so fantastic, I especially love your dessine-moi un mouton! I hear you about stores with steps- man, when I was on mat leave and had Lila in her stroller, I had a whole epiphany about how hard it must be to be disabled or in a wheelchair, how many stores were just not accessible!

    1. The weirdest thing is that even my local cafe that promotes itself as mum-and-kids friendly has a couple of steps at the entrance! I have thought the exactly same thing about people with wheelchairs and I'm thankful this stroller-phase is a passing one :)

Salut Chéri! Beret Pattern.

Here is the pattern for the berets I've knitted. The name for the beret is from the t-shirt I was wearing when I took the project photos of the first beret for Ravelry. I thought the name suited the beret, since it's quite classical take on the hat that has become the icon of everything French. Happy knitting! Salut Chéri! Saving A Curling Scarf.

Don't you just hate it when a piece you've spent hours working on doesn't turn out the way you imagined it? It looks like this... ...when it should be more like this. After just a couple of rows into the Trellis scarf I noticed the cast on edge started to roll upwards ever so slightly. As I continued to knit the curling got worse and worse until it seemed to calm down when the scarf measured 10 cm or so from the CO edge. I didn't really stress much about it thinking it would be easily fixed later on and continued to knit further. Halfway through knitting the scarf I faced another problem with the scarf. The CO edge still rolled up and now the sides started to curl inwards. So badly that the scarf lost more than half of it's width. I hate it when it happens. If this was something I designed myself I could maybe live with the mistake, but when it's a pattern that is published I would assume such things would have been fixed. Or at least
